イディオムを覚える

英会話の上達にはパターンを押さえると言うことを

繰返しここではお伝えしています。

ひとことフレーズや決まり文句等々パターンを覚えること

そしてそれを活用することが英語力の基礎体力を強化します。

あれこれ自分で悩むよりも決まりきったパターンやフレーズを

そのまま活かすことが近道になります。

それに慣れてきたらそれからその上を目指すことです。

英語のイディオムでちょっと変わったモノをチェックしましょう。

１．The lights are on, but nobody’s home.

明かりはついてるのに誰も家にいない。➡バカな人、考えのない人。

２．When pigs fly.

豚が空を飛ぶ。　➡　ありえない。絶対厭だ。

３．As cool as a cucumber

キュウリのように冷たい。　➡　冷静沈着で。

４．Hold your horses

手綱を引いて。　➡　落ち着いて、ちょっと待て。

５．Kick the bucket

バケツを蹴る　　➡　死ぬ。くたばる。

６．Everything but the kitchen sink

流し台以外全部　➡　一切合切、なんでもかんでも。

７．To have a cast iron stomach

鋳鉄製の胃を持っている。　➡　丈夫な胃を持っている。

８．To drink like a fish

魚のように飲む　　➡　大酒のみ、浴びるように飲む。

９．Use your loaf

あなたのパンを使え。　➡　　頭を使えよ。

10．Storm in a teacup

ティーカップの中の嵐。　➡　つまらないことに大騒ぎする

11．A piece of cake

ケーキの一切れ　　　➡　　お茶の子さいさい、簡単なこと。

12． Heart in your mouth

口の中に心臓　➡(驚き緊張で)心臓が飛び出しそうな、ハラハラドキドキ

英語のイディオムには誰でも良く使うものと

あまり聞かない珍しいもの等々いろいろあって面白いです。

ちょっと覚えて使ってみると英語がうまく聞こえるような

英語に慣れた感じもしますので機会があったら使ってみましょう。

英語はフレーズで覚える

英会話ではこれは英語でどういうのか悩むことがあります。

自分で翻訳するように考えてしまいますが

すでにある決まりきった表現があれば

それをそのまま活用するのが近道です。

英単語をひとつひとつ覚えるよりも

フレーズや決まり文句のカタマリで

あるいはセンテンスにしてパターンを覚えましょう。

日常会話で話すセンテンスは、殆どの会話文は

パターン会話、フレーズ会話でカバーされているでしょう。

例えば前置詞を使ったフレーズでも

日常会話で使えるものが沢山あります。

それを機会があればそのまま使ってみましょう。

英単語を増やすよりもフレーズやひとこと会話を

頑張ってを英語で言うと？

日本語で「頑張って！」と言うのは日常良く使います。

仕事で勉強で遊びでも運動でも普通に使うフレーズです。

「頑張って！」のひとことに

いろいろな意味も込められていますね。

英語でも同じように頑張ってと励ます時に

どのような言い方があるのでしょうか？

シンプルな頑張って！でも

その時その時の状況で

いろんな意味があるのではないでしょうか。

英語でいろいろな意味を込めた

頑張って！とか良くやった！とか励ますひとことについて見てみましょう。

Couldn’t have done it better myself. 良くやった、俺にはできない。
Good effort! 良く頑張った！
Good job! 良くやった！
Good work! 良くやった！
I knew you could do it. やると思ったよ。
I’m very proud of you. 大したものだ！
It looks like you’ve put a lot of work into this. 頑張ったね。

いろいろな意味が込められて使われます。

あるひとことを英語で何と言うのか考える時に

言い方はいろいろあるのだと言うことを覚えておきましょう。

英語上達のコツ

英語上達のコツは、あまり難しく考えないことです。

受験勉強ではクイズのような英単語ばかりでした。

試験には出たのでしょうが、日常会話では

ほとんど使った覚えがありません。

英単語も難しいものは後回しにしましょう。

日常会話ではシンプルに基礎英単語ですませましょう。

今回はその例として基礎英単語TAKEを使ったフレーズです。

難しい英単語を使わなくてもtake何とかと繋げれば

相当沢山の表現が可能です。

まずはこんな簡単なコツから英語上達を目指すことです。

●　take temperature 体温を測る

●　take a bite 噛む

●　take a bow お辞儀をする

● take a break 休憩する

●　take a call 電話を取る

●　take a chance いちかばちかやってみる

●　take a class 授業を受ける

●　take a decision 決断する

●　take a holiday 休暇を取る

●　take a look 見る、見てみる

●　take a message 伝言を取る

●　take a nap 昼寝をする

●　take a photo 写真を撮る

基礎英単語takeを使っていろいろな表現ができます。

難しい単語を使おうとせず、このような基礎英単語で
