英会話は難しいと言う人は難しく考え過ぎているかも知れません。

受験勉強でクイズのような英単語ばかり覚えて

その後実生活で一度も使ったことはないと思います。

受験英語は、ほとんど日常会話で役に立っていないでしょう。

英会話上達は、シンプルに考えましょう。

例えばhaveを使って沢山のアクションが表現できます。

難しい英単語の代わりにhaveフレーズで切り抜けましょう。

応用できるhaveフレーズ

私は、「漢語調」と「大和言葉調」と言う説明をしていますが、

日本語学習では難しい漢字を使うよりも大和言葉調のひらがな単語で言う方が

初めて日本語を習う外国人にも分かり易い筈です。

例えば「搭乗する」と言うのはembarkという漢語調の英単語がありますが、

そんな難しい英単語を使うよりもget onboardと基礎英単語だけで十分です。

haveやget、make等の基礎英単語を使ったフレーズだけでも

英会話は十分に可能です。英会話は、シンプルに短文でやってみましょう。

英語の前置詞を攻略する

英会話の上達には英語の前置詞を攻略することが重要です。

前置詞なんてと思うかも知れませんが、

前置詞一個で会話が成立することもあります。

前置詞は誰でも知っているシンプルな英単語です。

その使い方をしっかり確認して会話に活かしましょう。

前置詞のタイプは大きく四つあります。

１．時間を表す前置詞(例、ago, before, later, since…)

２．場所を表す前置詞(例、on, behind, between, under….)

３．方向/動きを表す前置詞(例、up, down, above, over…)

４．手段等を表す前置詞(例、by, with, on….)

その他にも前置詞句としてのフレーズでの使い方があります。

特にIN ON ATの三つの前置詞は、時と場所に関して良く使われます。

いずれのケースでも基本は、「大から小へ」です。

★時のケース

１．世紀　　➡　　in the 21st century

２．10年間　➡　 in the nineties

３．年　　　➡　　in 2019

４．月　　　➡　　in January

５．季節　　➡　　in the summer

６．期間　　➡　　in five weeks

７．午前/午後　➡　in the morning/in the afternoon

８．週末　➡　on the weekend

９．日　➡　on April 1st

10．時刻　➡　at 8 o’clock

11．時点　➡　at noon

１．国、市　➡　in Japan, in Tokyo

２．街　➡　in Ginza

３．囲まれた空間　➡　in the car, in the room

４．通り　➡　on the street

５．階　➡　on the third floor

６．交通機関　➡　on a bus

前置詞句としての慣用法

at home in the house on the corner

at work in a car on a train

at university in a boat on a ship

at the exit in the end on the menu

前置詞はシンプルですが、会話では必ず使われる強力な英単語です。

それぞれの使い方を良く覚えて効率的に活用してください。

英会話で丁寧に話す方法

日本語でも尊敬語や丁寧語、謙譲語と言うのは難しいものです。

日本人でも正確に説明できる人は少ないかも知れません。

英会話でも丁寧に話す言い方があります。

英会話で普通に話せばそれはそれで良いかも知れませんが、

シチュエーションによっては丁寧な話し方をする必要もあるでしょう。

丁寧な話し方のコツは、やはりその言い方のパターンを覚えることです。

ちょっとした話し方で印象も変わります。

ぞんざいな話し方よりも丁寧に言うべき時はちょっと変えてみましょう。

That’s a bad idea. ➡(丁寧に)I am not so sure that’s a good idea.
Can I smoke here? ➡　Would you mind if I smoke here?
Come here! ➡　Could you come here? (丁寧に言う時はcouldを)
This report is awful. ➡　This report is not really up to standard.
Can I borrow your pen? ➡　Could I borrow your pen?
Leave me alone. ➡　Sorry, I’m a bit busy right now.
Open the window. ➡　Do you mind if I open the window?
Tell me when you’re available. ➡Let me know when you’re available.
I don’t like this color. ➡　I am not too fond of this color.
Your work isn’t good. ➡　I’m not quite satisfied with your work.
Sit down. ➡　　Take a seat, please.

まずはシンプル英語で会話をしてみましょう。

慣れてきたらちょっと英語で丁寧な話し方ができるように

コツを押さえておきたいですね。

英語はフレーズで覚える

自分で翻訳するように考えてしまいますが

すでにある決まりきった表現があれば

それをそのまま活用するのが近道です。

英単語をひとつひとつ覚えるよりも

フレーズや決まり文句のカタマリで

あるいはセンテンスにしてパターンを覚えましょう。

日常会話で話すセンテンスは、殆どの会話文は

パターン会話、フレーズ会話でカバーされているでしょう。
