間違いはほとんどがうっかりミスです。

ケアレスミスを出来るだけなくすように注意しましょう。

日本語に早口言葉があるように英語にも早口言葉があります。

活舌を良くするために実際に喋って見て練習してみましょう。

最初はゆっくり読んでみて、徐々に読むスピードを上げて行きます。

舌を咬むかもしれませんが、慣れるまでゆっくり発音してみます。

機械と違って口に油を差す訳には行きません。

ゆっくり読んで、徐々に早く読むように練習するだけです。

慣れてくればスムーズに言えるようになるでしょう。

口も疲れるものですが、これは慣れです。

何度も実際に音読して少しずつ慣れるようにやってみましょう。

 

 

英会話で重要なのはやはり動詞です。話の核になるのが動詞です。

動詞がなくては話が完成せず意味が分からないでしょう。

日常生活での行動に関する英語の動詞は覚える必要が大です。

しかし動詞の数は膨大で簡単に語彙数を増やすことは困難です。

でもそこをどうにか克服する必要もあるのです。

その為の工夫とコツが基礎動詞を上手く使うと言うことです。

基礎動詞は中学校で出てくるシンプルな動詞です。

今回は誰でも知っているDOとMAKEについて考えましょう。

 

難しい漢語のような英語の動詞を使うのも良いでしょうが、

簡潔にDOやMAKEを使って大和言葉調で話す工夫をしてみましょう。

漢語調とか大和言葉調と言うのは例えば

日本語を習い始めた外国人に対して

搭乗するとか落馬するとか漢語調で話すよりも

飛行機に乗るとか馬から落ちるとシンプルに言った方が

理解されやすい筈です。それが大和言葉調が分かり易いということ。

DOやMAKEで良く使うフレーズを練習してみましょう。

 

DOを使ったフレーズ

• do the dishes       皿を洗う
• do an exercise     運動する
• do the laundry     洗濯する
• do the ironing      アイロンをかける
• do shopping          買い物する
• do homework        宿題をする

英会話で難しい動詞の英単語を使うのも良いですが

まずはシンプルに簡潔な短文での会話を心掛けましょう。

無理して背伸びすることもありません。

どんな話でも言い換えや別の言い方があるものです。

簡単な言い方がまずしっかりできるように英語の体力を鍛えましょう。

 

 

 

英会話の上達にイディオムが重要だと言うことは

ここで何度も触れてきました。

イディオムは、英語らしい表現になくてはならないものです。

ちょっとイディオムを会話に入れるだけで

英語らしい会話になるでしょう。

沢山イディオムを覚えて英会話の中で使ってみることです。

 

今回はイディオムの中でもお金に関するモノを確認してみます。

• foot the bill       おごる　　He is going to foot the bill for this lunch.
• break the bank 破産させる、（否定文で）大した額にならない

　　　I must repair my car.  I hope it won’t break the bank.

• for peanuts  ただみたいな　He is working for peanuts. 低賃金で
• money talks  金がモノを言う　Money talks. 地獄の沙汰も金次第
• money to burn 腐るほどの金　He is rich and he has money to burn.
• bring home the bacon 稼ぐ　His mother brings home the bacon.
• cut your losses 損切りするWe must cut our losses and stop the plan.
• be made of money  裕福で　He is made of money.
• cash in on つけこむ　The company cashed in on the boom.
• as sound as a dollar 安泰で　His company is as sound as a dollar.
• pinch pennies 節約する、けちるI have to pinch pennies because I want to buy a new car in the near future.
• make a killing 大儲けする　I made a killing on the stock market.

 

お金に関するイディオムも結構あるものです。面白いですね。

このように何かに関連付けて英単語やイディオムをグループ化して覚えると

英語の知識を増やすのにはとても効果的です。

英単語ひとつとかイディオムひとつとか覚えるのではなく

芋づる式に関連付けて覚えるようにしてみてください。

ひとつひとつではすぐ忘れてしまいます。

関連付けると何かのヒントが残るので意外と覚えています。
